Office Fit-Out Case Study | Glass Partitions and Acoustic Solid Walls in Leeds
JWL Interiors were appointed by Datum Glass at their Leeds headquarters to transform an existing open-plan office into a functional, multi-zone workspace. The objective was to create private offices and a professional boardroom while ensuring natural light flowed throughout the entire floor. Due to this, our team focused on delivering high-quality glass partitions and acoustic partition walls that provided privacy and organisation. The other aim was to not compromise the airy feel of the building which we kept in mind when preparing for this project

Customer's Challenge
The client had a large, open-plan area that lacked privacy and distinct zones for meetings and administration. They specifically needed to separate the main office from the reception area to manage visitor flow and noise, while also creating a dedicated boardroom and individual offices. A key requirement was maintaining the abundance of natural light within the workspace. Secondly, ensuring we could keep the noise transfer between the reception and the main office to a minimum.
Our Solution
To maintain the open feel, we installed sleek glass partitions to define the new boardroom and private offices, allowing light to reach every corner of the floor. For the reception area and a new dedicated storage room, we constructed 70mm metal stud and track partitions. We fit the solid walls with high-performance acoustic insulation to prevent noise transfer between the public and private work zones.
We installed a timber door featuring a large vision panel within the reception wall to maintain visibility. All solid partitions had a tape and fill finish using our precise method. They were then painted in a clean white matt, and accented with MDF skirting boards painted in a modern dark grey. As a result, they have a crisp, professional environment that perfectly balanced privacy with an open, bright atmosphere.
