JWL Interiors were appointed to transform a completely empty shell into a brand-new, fully functional Autoglass Centre in Colchester. This project required a rapid and efficient fit-out to create a workspace that combined a professional office environment with a practical service area. Our team managed the installation of all internal wall and ceiling systems, ensuring to convert the shell into a sleek, modern facility that above all, meets the high standards of the Autoglass brand.

Customer's Challenge
The primary challenge was starting with a completely blank canvas—an empty industrial shell—and turning it into a multi-purpose workspace on a tight schedule. Autoglass required a layout that separated the customer-facing office and waiting areas from the main service centre, whilst still allowing natural light to flow between the two. The partitions needed to be robust enough for a busy commercial environment. Additionally, maintaining a clean, professional finish was vital for visiting customers.
Our Solution
Firstly, we began by constructing a strong metal stud framework to define the various office and service zones. To address the need for natural light, we incorporated custom timber frame glass units within the partitions. This allowed for visibility and brightness to flow throughout the facility. We also had to fit high-quality plasterboard to both sides of the framework to ensure soundproofing and durability.
So as to improve energy efficiency and give the space a modern, finished look, we had to install a high-spec suspended ceiling. Our team did a meticulous tape and fill to each joint, providing a smooth, “Level 5” finish ready for decoration. While other trades handled the electrics and flooring, JWL Interiors delivered the core structural and aesthetic interior. Together we completed the project to the client’s exact specifications.
