Customer's Challenge
The project demanded the construction of robust internal divisions using British Gypsum metal stud partitions. A critical safety and technical requirement—which represented a specific customer challenge—was the installation of a bespoke fire-rated umbrella detail precisely where the main compartment wall met the roof structure. This detail was necessary to create a continuous fire break, ensuring fire could not bypass the partition via the roof structure. Meeting this complex fire protection standard was essential to comply with stringent aviation and commercial fire safety regulations in Leeds.
Our Solution
We delivered an integrated solution, focusing on safety and compliance. Our team successfully constructed the specialist fire-rated umbrella detail, effectively sealing the compartment wall at the roofline and ensuring the required fire break. The internal divisions were framed using high-performance British Gypsum plasterboard systems, which were then meticulously tape and filled for a smooth, high-quality decorative finish. For the ceiling system, we installed the reliable Zentia grid, fitted with hygienic British Gypsum Satin Spa tiles, completing the fire-rated system for this high-security airport environment.
