Luxury Retail Case Study | MF Ceilings and Fire-Rated Partitions in Edinburgh
JWL Interiors were appointed to deliver a high-specification interior fit-out for the prestigious Russell & Bromley store in Edinburgh. This project involved implementing a brand-new design concept for the luxury footwear retailer, requiring absolute precision across the entire floor space. Our team were responsible for the internal fit-out, including fire-rated partitions to separate the back of house and sales floor area. Additionally, bespoke lighting features ensured the showroom reflected the premium heritage of the Russell & Bromley brand.

Customer's Challenge
The primary challenge for this Edinburgh project was the execution of a new design concept that demanded a flawless, high-end finish. We had the task of creating a perfectly straight perimeter with integrated lighting. This was all whilst also meeting building regulations regarding fire safety. Separating the sales floor from the back-of-house area required robust fire-rated partitions. We had to make sure they didn’t compromise the store’s sleek, modern aesthetic or the layout of the new concept.
Our Solution
To achieve the new concept’s look, we installed perimeter wall liners featuring bespoke lighting troughs down each side of the shop to house specialist retail lighting. For safety and compliance, we built high-performance fire-rated partitions to separate the back of house and sales floor area. This provided essential fire protection between the two zones which was most important.
Throughout the store, we fitted high-quality MF ceilings, incorporating integrated loft hatches for easy maintenance access. The entire project, including the ceilings and walls, were meticulously complete with tape and fill. The painting was then done to the client’s exact specifications. As a result the crisp, professional, and fully compliant luxury retail space successfully launched the new Russell & Bromley concept in Scotland’s capital.
